Are Subsidiaries of Cape Diamonds Plc, and have an experienced Management Team and operate in a stable environment – economic, legal and political environment.

The Elandslaagte Project comprises an existing mining operation based on a diamondiferous kimberlite pipe system. Between 1896 and 1992, approximately 30,000 carats of diamonds had been extracted from the Elandslaagte mine. Historically, individual diamonds recovered have ranged in size up to 400 carats. The average realised value of the diamonds recovered since July 2004 has exceeded $500 per carat.

  • Anker Coal Mining SA
 

A coal-mining Company with substantial coal reserves in Mpumalanga. Anker SA's assets include Elandsfontein Colliery's estimated eight-million run-of-mine tons of coal, Golfview Mining's six-million run-of-mine tons an Van Oudtshoomstroom coal's 50 million mineable reserves of coal.

Through its 35% stake in Anker Coal Mining SA, CIH has a significant tonnage of coal reserves and are looking to increase them to the 200 million ton mark in the near future via prospecting properties currently under review, as well as properties already awarded in Waterberg and Soutpansberg district.

CIH is a majority shareholder in a consortium which is to acquire rights over a sizeable Uranium deposit, measuring 430 447 hectares, in Giyani, province of Limpopo. All the regulatory requirements have been fulfilled however the Government is still finalizing Nuclear Regulations.
  • Botswana
CIH is soon to acquire Uranium rights in Botswana, over an area approximately 5340 square kilometers. Included over the property are other minerals for which prospecting licenses have been granted and the first phase of prospecting is already underway.

  • Soutpansberg Coalfield, Limpopo
CIH own eight farms in the Soutpansberg Coalfield in Limpopo, measuring about 13,000ha and has consolidated with other holders of rights to do joint prospecting under Rio Tinto. The estimated reserve, based on reliable information, including borehole data, is a minimum of 1 billion tons.
  • Waterberg Coalfield, Limpopo
CIH is a 100% owner of rights over five farms in a geologically very favourable area of the Waterberg coalfield. The coal in this area is fairly shallow and tabular. A power plant, Matimba, and a Coal-to-Liquid (CTL) plant by SASOL, are soon to be constructed.

CIH owns rights over a farm in the Balfour area of Mpumalanga. Consolidation with other holders of rights is under way to start a sizeable project.

Over the past two years, CIH has been in negotiation with the Regulatory Authorities in Botswana, to acquire rights for Coal and Coal Bed Methane over an area approximately 20% of the land area of the entire country.
