CIH is a majority shareholder in a consortium which is to acquire rights over a sizeable uranium deposit, measuring 430 447 hectares, in Giyani, province of Limpopo. All the regulatory requirements have been fulfilled however the Government is still finalizing Nuclear Regulations.
Botswana
 
CIH is soon to acquire Uranium rights in Botswana, over an area approximately 5340 square kilometers. Included over the property are other minerals for which prospecting licenses have been granted and the first phase of prospecting is already underway.

  • Malesela Taihan Electric Cable (Pty) Ltd (M-TEC): A Vereeniging based company, employing more than 450 people. M-TEC pioneered the manufacturing of non-ferrous products in South Africa. It is one of the country’s leaders in the production and supply of power cables, aluminium overhead conductors, bare copper wire, strip products and optical cables. It also manufactures OPGW cables.
 

An ultra-modern fibre optic plant has recently been commissioned on the premises. M-TEC recently won a 3-year R400 million tender from Telkom SA to supply telecommunication cables.

  • Conlog (Pty) Ltd: A leading manufacturer of electrical and water metres with Schneider International owning the remaining 60%. Conlog is acknowledged as a world leader in prepayment water and electricity systems. Conlog supplies on average 20,000 electricity metres per month. The pre-payment electricity metres are installed on the consumer’s premises. The system caters for disposable magnetic card, numeric token and Smart Card metres.

Through the application of internationally recognised and customer-proven quality programs such as ISO 9001, QS 9000 and VDA 6 certifications, Conlog ensures that only reliable, high quality products are delivered to the market. The company was recently awarded a contract by Eskom to supply electrical metres to the value of R100 million.

  • Nu-Lec Africa (Pty) Ltd: A joint venture with Schneider Electric, are world leaders in the manufacturing of intelligent pole mounted medium voltage switchgear products.
 

Nu-Lec’s main product is the Nu-Lec RL27 pole mounted, gas insulated load break switch. Nu-Lec also manufactures a range of remote
controlled and monitored 12kV, 24kV and 36kV pole mounted circuit breakers and remote control and monitoring software. This company
recently won a R70 million per annum tender from ESKOM.
